The “Other” Speaker of the House Goes All In on Cannabidiol (CBD)

Former Speaker of the House John Boehner made waves across FOX Business News and Forbes when he said he was going “all in” on marijuana at the American Cannabis Summit.

But near as I can tell, we were the only ones watching when his successor, top House Republican Paul Ryan, issued a surprise endorsement of cannabidiol (CBD), a non-intoxicating but medically beneficial compound found in marijuana.

Ryan, who is not up for re-election, had some interesting things to say about the increasingly popular medication…

Marijuana Reform Is a Rare Bipartisan Bright Spot

“It has been proven to work,” Ryan said of CBD, citing that it “helps reduce seizures.” He also shared that his mother-in-law used a synthetic version of CBD to alleviate her symptoms while dying of melanoma and ovarian cancer.

While putting his stamp of approval on CBD, Ryan, who will retire early next year, also put in a good word for industrial hemp: “There’s a lot of industrial uses for hemp that I understand from talking to Mitch McConnell is a big deal to Kentucky architecture, and we’re all in favor of that as well.”

These proclamations come at a key time, with Republicans and Democrats of all political stripes co-sponsoring important cannabis and cannabis reform legislation.

For instance, Congressional leaders are currently negotiating differences between the House and Senate versions of the Farm Bill, which discusses different regulations regarding industrial hemp.

If the top Republican in the House is throwing his support behind CBD and hemp, it seems more and more likely that his members will fall in line and accept the Senate’s hemp-friendly language.

Of course, Ryan isn’t the only congressperson throwing his support behind cannabis.

And he’s certainly not the most vocal.

As I mentioned, Ryan’s predecessor in the Speaker’s chair, John Boehner, is making headlines everywhere for participating in our first-ever national cannabis summit.

The staunch marijuana opponent became a strong advocate, and he’s sharing just how his thinking on marijuana evolved.

The summit, which you can see here, totally free of charge, covers everything from marijuana stocks set to soar… to the regulations surrounding legalization and several other cannabis-related topics.

I think everyone who’s invested in cannabis, wants to invest in cannabis, or simply wants to know what’s going on with an important U.S. industry that’s already worth as much as $10.8 billion is going to want to hear what Boehner and the other guest panelists have to say.

And you’re going to want to hear it before Election Day tomorrow – and another run-up in cannabis stocks.
